Vivian Cheruiyot to Race Berlin MarathonBy Adam Kopet Vivian Cheruiyot will race the BMW Berlin Marathon in September, according to an Instagram post from Pace Sports Management.
Cheruiyot won gold and silver medals at the 2016 Olympics in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters, respectively. Since then, she has focused on the marathon, including wins at the 2017 Frankfurt Marathon and the 2018 London Marathon. Cheruiyot also earned runner-up finishes at the 2018 New York City Marathon and the 2019 London Marathon. She has never finished lower than fourth in a marathon. With a marathon personal best of 2:18:31, Cheruiyot ranks eighth on the all-time performer list. This will be Cheruiyot's first time competing at the Berlin Marathon. Two-time defending champion Gladys Cherono and Mary Keitany, both of Kenya, have already been announced, as was previously reported. So too was Mare Dibaba of Ethiopia. More news |
