Cancellation of the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON 2020

Patience is a much sought-after skill these days. Every day we have to come to terms with new situations, demands and decisions. In the end, all this happens for the benefit of our health. Our team has also had to practice patience and constantly checked new possibilities for the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON under the given conditions. In addition, there were countless discussions about a self-developed sophisticated hygiene concept. These processes have required a lot of time as well as your patience. Thank you for your understanding, no matter if you are a runner, skater, wheelchair or handbike athlete.

As hard as we have tried, it is currently not possible to organize the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON with its usual Berlin charm. Fun, joy, health and success are attributes that characterize the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON, but we are not able to guarantee all of this at the moment. Your health, as well as all of our health, is our first priority. Therefore, taking into account the Containment Measures Ordinance due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its latest update on June 17, 2020, the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON 2020 will not be able to take place on September 26-27, 2020. Furthermore, it will also not be possible - after extensive examination and various discussions, also with the authorities - to hold the event at a later date this year.

Information for registered participants

All registered participants are offered two options:

1. Transfer the personalized right to start next year at the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON on September 25 (skaters) and September 26, 2021 (wheelchair athletes, handbikers and runners) This selection for the transfer of the race entry counts as a binding registration for the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON 2021; our conditions of participation and general terms and conditions apply.

2. Repayment of the participation fee to the bank account or credit card used for registration.

Booked additional services will be refunded regardless of the option chosen (see above).

Those who have registered using a partner or sponsor code will not receive any further mail in this regard. A direct transfer of the partner or sponsor code from 2020 to the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON 2021 is not possible. All services booked in this context will be refunded. Refunds will be made to the bank account or credit card used during registration.

Registrations made via the RTL-Spendenmarathon will also be eligible for the above-mentioned options. We fortunately were able to provide the donations to children in need already, so the donation portion will not be refunded.

Of course, we are also offering our Jubilee-Club members the option of transferring their personalized entry rights to the next year or getting a reimbursement of the entry fee.

Tomorrow (June 25, 2020) you will receive an email from our service provider mika:timing, with a personalized link that allows you to choose between the two options mentioned above.

Starting next week you can upload a photo of yourself, which will then become a part of our official campaign for the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON 2021. You can help create a great key visual with the addition of your picture, which will help build the community spirit of the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON.

Even though we are sad to have to cancel, we endurance athletes have the advantage of having the virtue of patience. And it won't be that long until it is time for the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON 2021.
